Terms and Conditions
Last updated: August 11, 2026
These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of Online Psychology Studies, an online platform for psychological research, study management, assessment workflows and related digital services.
Important commercial terms. Online Psychology Studies provides digital access only. We do not deliver physical goods, and purchases are non-refundable except where a non-waivable law requires otherwise.
Contents
1. Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing the website at onlinepsychologystudies.com, creating an account, submitting assessment responses, purchasing access, or otherwise using the website, application, reports, dashboards, study tools, assessments, content or related services (together, the "Services"), you agree to these Terms and Conditions (the "Terms"). If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.
2. Platform operator
The Services are operated in South Africa by Yolo Ngcakani, trading as Online Psychology Studies as a sole proprietor ("we", "us", or "our"). We are responsible for operating the platform, maintaining the website and applications, managing user accounts, processing applicable payments, and providing support through the contact channels listed below.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least eighteen (18) years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to use the Services unless a specific research study has obtained all legally required consents and approvals for younger participants. By using the Services, you represent that you have legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
4. Accounts and security
You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide and for keeping your account credentials confidential. You must not share, sell, transfer or misuse an account. You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.
We may suspend, restrict or terminate access where we reasonably believe an account is being misused, used unlawfully, used to interfere with the Services, or used in breach of these Terms.
5. Nature of the Services
Online Psychology Studies is an online research and assessment platform. The Services may include researcher dashboards, consent workflows, online tasks, self-report inventories, reports, exports, analytics, participant links and related digital tools.
The Services are provided online only. No physical product is sold, shipped, collected or delivered as part of the Services.
6. Fees, trials and subscriptions
Some Services may require payment. Prices, trial terms, billing periods and renewal terms are shown at checkout or in the relevant plan information before purchase. By submitting payment details, you authorise us or our payment processor to charge the applicable fees.
You are responsible for keeping payment information accurate and for any bank, card, currency conversion or payment-provider fees. If a payment fails, access may be restricted until the payment issue is resolved.
Where subscriptions are offered, they may renew automatically unless cancelled before the next billing date. Cancellation stops future renewal charges but does not create a refund or credit for the current paid period.
For an approved paid-recruitment campaign, the researcher funds the complete disclosed participant pool plus an exact 5% recruitment commission before recruitment begins. The participant pool remains a restricted payment liability and is not platform revenue. Payment-provider and recruitment costs never reduce an earned participant payment.
Participant compensation is calculated from the milestone weights disclosed before consent. Verified partial completion is paid pro rata and verified 100% completion earns 100% of the advertised offer. Researcher-funded EFTs are due within seven business days after compensation is earned.
7. No refunds or returns
All purchases are final. Because the Services are digital and online access is made available immediately or shortly after purchase, we do not accept returns and we do not provide refunds, partial refunds, credits or exchanges for purchased access, unused time, missed use, change of mind, accidental purchase, incompatibility with your device or internet connection, or failure to cancel before renewal.
Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer right that cannot legally be excluded. Where applicable law requires a different outcome, we will comply with that law.
The no-refund rule does not convert unused participant funds into platform revenue. After pending earnings, disputes, reversals and applicable chargeback windows are resolved, any unused participant-pool balance is returned according to the accepted campaign quote. The separate 5% recruitment commission becomes non-refundable once reviewed campaign setup or recruitment work begins, except where the quote or applicable law requires otherwise.
For more detail, see our Return Policy.
8. No delivery or shipping
We do not provide delivery, courier, shipping, collection or fulfilment services because we do not sell physical goods. Access to the Services is provided online through the website, account login, participant links, email verification and other digital access methods.
For more detail, see our Delivery Policy.
9. Privacy and confidentiality
Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy. Assessment responses are treated as confidential, and direct identifiers are separated from research responses where practicable. De-identified and aggregated data may be used for research, analysis, reporting and service improvement.
10. Research and academic use of data
A primary purpose of the Services is to support psychological and behavioural research. By submitting responses, you acknowledge that de-identified and aggregated response data may be analysed, compared, validated, published or shared for legitimate academic, scientific, educational or service-improvement purposes.
We do not sell individual assessment responses to advertisers or data brokers. Published or externally shared research outputs must not identify individual participants.
11. Not medical or clinical advice
The Services, reports, scores, assessments and content are provided for informational, educational and research purposes only. They are not medical, psychological, psychiatric, diagnostic, therapeutic or emergency services and must not replace advice from a qualified professional.
If you are experiencing a medical or mental-health emergency, contact local emergency services or a qualified healthcare professional immediately.
12. Acceptable use
You must use the Services lawfully and responsibly. You must not submit false, harmful or unlawful material; interfere with security or availability; scrape or harvest data without permission; reverse engineer the Services; upload malware; attempt unauthorised access; impersonate another person; or use the Services in a way that infringes another person's rights.
13. Intellectual property
The Services, software, website, designs, reports, assessment presentation, text, graphics, branding, databases and related materials are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You receive only a limited, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the Services in accordance with these Terms.
You retain ownership of information you submit, subject to the rights you grant us to operate, secure, analyse, improve and provide the Services and to use de-identified and aggregated data as described in these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
14. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory.
We do not guarantee that the Services will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, compatible with every device or suitable for any particular research, clinical, academic, commercial or personal purpose.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and our directors, officers, employees, contractors, affiliates, licensors and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, research opportunity or goodwill.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for claims relating to the Services or these Terms will not exceed the greater of USD 100 or the amount you paid to us for the Services in the thirty (30) days before the event giving rise to the claim.
16. Changes to the Services or Terms
We may update the Services or these Terms from time to time. Updated Terms will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your location require otherwise.
